Headache
Why do you get a headache?
Headaches involve blood vessels, muscles, and nerves. Primary headaches like migraines, cluster, and tension headaches occur when pain-sensitive structures in the head malfunction or due to chemical activity changes in the brain.
How do you get rid of a tension headache?
Apply a hot or cold compress to your head or neck. Heat and cold help relieve pain and muscle tension. A long, hot shower running water down your neck can also be very effective.
What causes a tension headache?
Common triggers for tension-type headaches include:
- Stress and anxiety.
- Squinting.
- Poor posture.
- Tiredness.
- Dehydration.
- Missing meals.
Warning Signs
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
Confusion, blurry vision, weakness on one side, or sudden intense "thunderclap" headaches. These can be signs of serious underlying conditions.
