Endoscopic DCR
What is Dacrocystorhinostomy?
DCR is a specialized procedure to treat excessive tear flow (epiphora) caused by a blockage in the nasolacrimal duct. By creating a new drainage pathway, it restores normal tear flow into the nasal cavity.
The Path of Tears
Tears generated in the lacrimal gland normally travel through the eyelids to the lacrimal sac and finally into the nose. Any blockage along this path can cause tears to overflow.
The DCR Solution: A DCR procedure bypasses the blockage by creating a direct opening from the lacrimal sac into the nasal cavity, ensuring effective drainage.
Risks & Considerations
Minimal Recovery Risks
Pain is typically minimal. While uncommon, infection or minor bleeding can occur and are easily managed.
Rare Complications
Significant risks are extremely rare and are discussed in detail during consultation.
Success Rates
